Stop-loss is the level that if exceeded by prices, determines the closure of the position before the preset target is reached (generating a loss).
Take-profit on the other hand is the level which, if touched by prices, determines the closing of the profit position.
The price levels at which to set stop-loss and take-profit are absolutely crucial in the attempt to maximize the profitability of the various operations.
